THREE young children have died after reportedly climbing inside an abandoned freezer and becoming trapped.
The bodies of the kids - aged one, 4 and 6 - were discovered in the chest freezer left outside a home in Suwanee County, Florida.
Suwanee County Sheriff's Department said the chest freezer was sitting outside the property and not plugged in.
A woman who was babysitting the kids went inside to use bathroom but couldn't find them.
She woke up another adult woman who was living there and was due to work a night shift.
The pair frantically scoured the property for the three kids and eventually found them in the freezer.
The kids weren't breathing and the women tried desperately to resuscitate them.
A hasp used to secure a padlock had been installed on the freezer, says the Sheriff's department.
After they climbed in, the lid closed on the children and the hasp fell shut, trapping the children in the freezer.
One of the youngsters who died is reported to have belonged to the sitter, with the other two reportedly siblings,
The Florida Department of Children and Families have been notified.
Foul play is not suspected and the case has been forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office for review.
