Pamela Munro has spoken out about the heartbreak of waiting for a post mortem examination to be carried out

PAIGE Doherty’s tormented mum has told how she wasn’t allowed to give her daughter one last cuddle as her family waited a month to bury the murdered teen.

Pamela Munro revealed her grief at not being able to hold the slain 15-year-old due to her severe wounds after she was knifed to death .

For the first time, Pamela has spoken out about the gruesome process her grieving family endured as they waited for the killer’s defence team to carry out their post mortem examination.

And the heartbroken mum described how they were forced to buy eyelash stencils and a wig for Paige as her hair started to fall out while they waited to lay her to rest in Clydebank, Scotland.

Pamela is now fighting to change the law allowed for defence counsels to carry out post mortems.

Posting on the Paige’s Promise Facebook, she said: “When we lost Paige we had to wait a month to bury her, we had to limit our visits to try and maintain her body so we could bring her home, due to her open wounds there was a significant chance that we wouldn’t get her home as time passed by.

“We were basically told by defence they’ll do their second post mortem when it suits them because they can, they had 110 days to put together a defence n they could do the post mortem anytime within then, it was unfair.

“My daughter lay decomposing in a mortuary and family were at home longing to hold her, touch her, cuddle her.

“I never got to give my little girl a cuddle after she was brutally murdered, the most I got to do was stroke her head and kiss her head due to her horrific neck wound.

“Paige’s body couldn’t be embalmed until a defence post mortem took place. The time we waited was a joke, and other people have waited longer.”

Paige was killed in a frenzied attack after she went into the deli to buy a roll on the way to her Saturday job at a salon.

Callous Leathem tried to cover up his crime by cleaning the shop and dumping her body in a wooded area near Great Western Road.

Footage later emerged which showed him .

Pamela added: “By the time Paige did come home she wasn’t Paige anymore she had no hair n wasn’t viewable not even for me, it was heartbreaking.

“This bill is trying to prevent other families going through that and setting a timescale on defence post mortems taking place. It doesn’t help our family but it does help you and every other persons who could be faced with it.”

Leathem was originally sentenced to life in prison and ordered to serve a minimum of 27 years.

But he had his jail time .
