Stunned patients blast hospital after a huge rat wanders into maternity wing
The rodent was snapped sniffing around the corridors of Lincoln County Hospital just feet from newborns
A HUGE rat labours over which way to turn at an NHS maternity wing.
The wandering rodent was snapped sniffing about in a corridor yards from newborns.
The man who took the pic at Lincoln County Hospital on Sunday said: “I was visiting a friend and I saw something move. A rat was walking the length of the corridor.
"Someone walked past but didn’t seem fazed.”
An expectant mum waiting for a scan said: “There were a dozen mothers and their partners crammed into a tiny room. Some of us had to stand.
"The facilities are just not fit for purpose. Rats in the corridors is the final straw.”
Paul Boocock from United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust said: “We are carrying out some building works, which may have disturbed the rodent.
“We have instructed pest control contractors to investigate.”
Rats can pass on diseases such as leptospirosis, which causes kidney failure and death.
