A GANG beat a teenage boy with metal poles before stabbing him on his way to school as knife crime continues to grip London.
The victim, in his mid-teens, was rushed to hospital from Lewisham High Street just after 8.30am.
He was wearing his uniform on the bus when he was set upon by a gang wielding metal poles.
A greengrocer told the : "They got on the bus and beat him up with poles.
"They pulled a knife out and chased him to the front of the shopping centre and stabbed him.
"He was lucky to survive and looked so young.”
The attack on the teen comes barely a week after Jayden Moodie, 14, was stabbed to death after being rammed off the road by a black Mercedes.

A horrified witness
The teen died in Waltham Forest, with his family hitting back at claims he was part of a gang despite the teen boasting of being a "trapper kid" - slang for drug dealer - on his own Facebook page.
The young boy's death followed a series of horror attacks across the country, including the stabbing death of Darren Pencille on a train.
POLICE APPEAL
Police are now working to investigate today's stabbing, saying they were looking for the suspects.
A Lewisham Police spokesperson said: "The victim, a boy in his mid-teens, has been taken to hospital."
They later confirmed the teen had suffered "non life threatening" injuries.
Police added: "An investigation is underway to identify suspect(s)."
Officers were later seen patrolling the streets after the stabbing.

Witnesses have been asked to contact police, calling 101 with reference 1431/January 14.
