Home Secretary Sajid Javid refers to himself as ‘The Sajid’ during meetings with ministers

One Cabinet source claimed that Home Secretary uses phrases like 'The Saj will sort that out' and 'just you watch what The Sajid is going to do'

RIVAL Tory ministers have accused Sajid Javid of letting power go to his head after he has started referring to himself in meetings as “The Sajid”.

The Home Secretary now openly refers to himself by the third person moniker during talks with fellow ministers.

Two Cabinet sources confirmed hearing the 49 year old use the expression recently.

One told The Sun: “He uses phrases like, ‘Just you watch what The Sajid is going to do about this’, or ‘The Saj will sort that out’. “It’s bizarre. I think he’s losing the plot”.

As the frontrunner now to succeed Theresa May in No10, Mr Javid has suffered a wave of bitter attacks from Tory MPs over his handling of the Channel migration furore.

The backlash forced him to return home early from a luxury family holiday on Monday to take personal charge of the political crisis.

Mr Javid’s advisers claim it was done in revenge to embarrass him after he repeatedly clashed with the PM.

A spokeswoman for the Home Secretary last night said it is “completely untrue” that he calls himself ‘The Sajid’ in Whitehall meetings.
