Home Secretary Sajid Javid refers to himself as ‘The Sajid’ during meetings with ministers
One Cabinet source claimed that Home Secretary uses phrases like 'The Saj will sort that out' and 'just you watch what The Sajid is going to do'
RIVAL Tory ministers have accused Sajid Javid of letting power go to his head after he has started referring to himself in meetings as “The Sajid”.
The Home Secretary now openly refers to himself by the third person moniker during talks with fellow ministers.
Two Cabinet sources confirmed hearing the 49 year old use the expression recently.
One told The Sun: “He uses phrases like, ‘Just you watch what The Sajid is going to do about this’, or ‘The Saj will sort that out’. “It’s bizarre. I think he’s losing the plot”.
As the frontrunner now to succeed Theresa May in No10, Mr Javid has suffered a wave of bitter attacks from Tory MPs over his handling of the Channel migration furore.
The backlash forced him to return home early from a luxury family holiday on Monday to take personal charge of the political crisis.
But close friends of high-flying Mr Javid last night accused jealous rivals of seizing on the crisis to try to damage any future leadership bid by him.
One senior MP and close ally said last night: “There is a ludicrous attempt to discredit Sajid, and it’s coming from Hunt, and Raab’s people.
“They are desperate to undermine someone who speaks sense and can reach parts of the country that nobody else can. It’spathetic.”
The Home Secretary’s aides also hold a senior No10 figure responsible for leaking the location of his exclusive South African safari lodge.
