First pics of girlfriend stabbed to death on Boxing Day as lover, 47, is charged over ‘Christmas row murder’

A MAN accused of knifing his girlfriend to death in the early hours of Boxing Day appeared in court today charged with her murder.

Angela Mittal and partner Laurens Brand had only recently moved into their new-build home in Shinfield near Reading, Berks.

It is alleged they had a late night row on Christmas Day and he stabbed her in the neck and chest in the early hours.

Cops were called at 5.40am on Boxing  Day and found Angela dead.

Brand, 47, was remanded in custody when he appeared before magistrates in Reading today.

No plea was entered. He will appear before a crown court judge for a further hearing on February 2.

The couple's new home was sealed off by detectives and forensics officers who erected a blue tent outside early on December 26.

Angela, in her 40s, died from stab wounds to her neck and chest, a pathologist found.

Police said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, a man has been charged with murder in Shinfield.

"Officers were called to Parker Close at around 5.40am on Boxing Day. A woman in her 40s was found deceased in the property.

"A post mortem examination was carried out on the victim yesterday and the cause of death was established as stab wounds to neck and chest.

"A man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

"Laurens Brand, aged 47 years, of Parker Close, Shinfield, was charged with one count of murder."
