Now a devastated child has spoken out about the brutal last-minute cancellation of his Christmas dream trip to Finland.

The boy named Teddy told the BBC: "We wanted to see Father Christmas."

His mum Tanya Stewart also fought back tears as she explained how much the trip meant to her family.

She said: "We're so upset, we're really sad.

"We're devastated that it's been cancelled. We booked it a year ago and have been planning and looking forward to it all year.

"But obviously we could've been waking up to a completely different story this morning so we're thankful everyone's safe, that we're back home in one piece, so that's the main thing."

Cops have launched a mass hunt for the illegal drone pilots responsible with a police helicopter joining the search in the early hours.

Speaking this morning, a spokesman for Sussex Police could not confirm how many suspects were wanted but said the major security breach was not "terror related".

Little Teddy also described the moment he realised he wasn't going away this Christmas.

He said: "My dad, he walked to the front desk of the airport, and he asked what was going on and the lady gave him a letter and it said that the flights would be cancelled.

"I was just sad and upset."

Tanya added: "I just feel so bad.

"I wanted it to be a day to remember for Teddy — one that he'll treasure forever."

But the downcast schoolboy managed to find some consolation by concluding: "We can do it next year!"
