Gang of 13 footie hooligans who hurled bottles and stamped on heads in violent brawl are jailed
The sickening clash broke out between fans of Cardiff City and Aston Villa after a football match last year
A GANG of 13 football hooligans were jailed for a total of 13 years after a violent brawl outside a pub was captured on CCTV.
Aston Villa and Cardiff City fans threw bottles and stamped on each other’s heads as a fight erupted following Cardiff’s 3-0 win in August last year.
Footage of the brutal brawl was taken from CCTV at The Cornwall pub in Grangetown, Cardiff, after the heated Championship fixture.
It shows Villa fans spilling out of a minibus before exchanging punches and throwing glass at Cardiff supporters in and around the pub.
Three men were pulled and kicked to the ground and then booted more while on the floor.
Some fans admitted violent disorder while others were found guilty at trials in October and November.
Three Cardiff fans and ten Villa fans were put behind bars for between nine months and three years.
Nine of those involved have also been banned from every football ground in the UK for six years.
At Cardiff Crown court, Judge Neil Bidder condemned the “serious violent disorder” where children and elderly people were eating food.
He accepted the Cardiff City fans had not gone looking for violence, but in the face of “reprehensible behaviour by in the main Aston Villa supporters”, the Bluebirds supporters “didn’t need to get involved”.
Three defendants who have been convicted will be sentenced at a later date.
Hayden Perryman, 25, an Aston Villa fan, of Sutton Coldfield, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was given 12 months in prison.
Richard Willmore, 27, an Aston Villa fan, of Birmingham, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to 14 months.
Darren Simms, 24, an Aston Villa fan of Wednesbury, West Midlands, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to 14 months.
Ryan White, 21, an Aston Villa fan of Dudley, pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to two years.
Paul McMinn, 49, an Aston Villa fan of Solihull pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to 12 months.
Terence Coughlan, 57, an Aston Villa fan of Birmingham pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to 16 months.
Mark Baker, 47, an Aston Villa fan of Birmingham was found guilty of violent disorder and was sentenced to nine months.
David Cooper, 28, a Cardiff City fan of Caerphilly pleaded guilty to violent disorder and was sentenced to 14 months.
Brett Clarke, 40, an Aston Villa fan of Solihull was found guilty of violent disorder and was sentenced to three years.
Paul Sweeney, 32, an Aston Villa fan of Solihull was also found guilty of violent disorder and sentenced to nine months.
Nathan Pleace, 30, a Cardiff City fan of Llandaff North, Vincent Richards, 32, a Cardiff City fan of Llandough, and Gary Tucker, 51, an Aston Villa fan of Birmingham were all found guilty of violent disorder.
They are still waiting to be sentenced.
