KNIFE attacks are “spiralling out of control” as cops record 120 offences a day.
The number of stabbings or blade threats including murder and robberies surged to 21,602 offences in the first six months of the year.
Police logged 140 murders, 181 attempted murders, 243 rapes and 88 other sexual assaults involving knives or other blades such as machetes.
The tally has increased significantly by 9,947 assaults and 9,340 muggings, along with 1,663 offences of making death threats.
It marks a rise of seven per cent compared with the last six months of 2017.
Home Secretary Sajid Javid wants to bring in “knife Asbos”.
The orders would cover youths carrying knives for protection but not deemed serious offenders.
Of 250 fatal stabbings in England and Wales this year, nearly half were in London.
Centre for Crime Prevention campaign group research director David Spencer accused the Government and police of “failing to get a grip”.

He said: “The situation is clearly spiralling out of control.
"People are wielding knifes on a daily basis and nothing is being done about it.”
The Home Office said it was “working hard to tackle the devastating consequences of knife crime”.
