THE boss of HS2 and Crossrail is expected to be sacked by Theresa May within days amid growing problems with the two multi-billion-pound rail projects.

Sir Terry Morgan has only been chairman of the controversial HS2 for four months but is expected to get the chop after his poor performance was flagged to the PM.

He is also boss of London's troubled £15billion Crossrail project, which has been beset by repeated delays.

Sir Terry is expected to be gone from both jobs within weeks, according to the Financial Times. It comes after Transport Secretary Chris Grayling and Chancellor Philip Hammond urged Mrs May to remove him over fears the 250mph high-speed line will breach its £56billion budget by a big margin.

A Government official close to HS2 told the newspaper: “They told the PM they have no confidence in him and she agrees. It is only a question of finding the right moment to announce it.”

The Government declined to comment. Sir Terry could not be reached for comment.
