‘Dictatorial’ Meghan Markle wanted air fresheners to fix ‘musty’ smell at wedding chapel but Buckingham Palace said no
MEGHAN Markle wanted air fresheners to fix the "musty" smell at St George's Chapel before her wedding but Buckingham Palace officials said no, sources have claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to be unpopular with palace staff and some have even called her "dictatorial".
The mum-to-be specifically asked for atomisers to fill the chapel before Royal Wedding guests arrived because she didn't "like its smell", a source claimed.
Household staff were reportedly left astounded at her request because the chapel is The Queen's regular place of worship and even contains the Royal Vault.
A source told the : "Apparently Meghan didn't like the smell of the chapel, which as you would expect, is a little musty. It's not unpleasant at all though.
"Meghan wanted staff to go around with these atomisers, like spritzer guns, and spray the chapel with scent before anyone arrived."
Another source told the newspaper that the atomisers didn't cause any issues, but instead dismissed Meghan's request as "over the top".
Although Meghan and Harry organised the wedding, the Lord Chamberlain's Office is in charge of ceremonial matters in relation to the chapel.
Sun Online has contacted Kensington Palace for comment.
Meghan was reportedly very keen to become in the know about the ins and outs of royal life, sources have claimed.
One told the : "Her attitude from the off was, 'I want to know everything'."
News of Meghan's demanding request comes amid reports of friction between Meghan and Kate Middleton.
The pair's relationship has reportedly become strained after what royal insiders have called an "extraordinarily tense" time.
Rumours of a rift between the duchesses swirled after royal sources revealed emotional Kate, 36, ended up weeping over Meghan's demands for Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress.
Royal aides did not deny the incident had taken place, amid claims that the duchesses are “very different people”.
And earlier this week it was suggested that she was the reason Prince Harry and Prince William's relationship had become a little frosty.
