Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘to name George and Amal Clooney godparents to their first baby’

The actor's family said the couples have become close and are prime candidates

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry will name George and Amal Clooney godparents to their first baby, sources suggest.

The actor's family, who live in his hometown of Augusta, Kentucky, said the couples have become close and are prime candidates for the honour.

George's cousin Ben Breslin told  "He'd make a wonderful godfather, he'd make a wonderful just about anything - he's a good guy."

Human-rights lawyer Amal and her Hollywood star hubby were guests at Harry and Meghan's wedding earlier this year.

The royals flew to George's Lake Como pad after the ceremony in May to meet their one-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.

Another family source told the site: "Amal and Meghan have been close for years, and Harry and George have become buddies because of that.

Harry and Meghan are reportedly attending dinner party next month at the Clooney's London home, with Barack and Michelle Obama also set to make an appearance.

Cousin Ben also endorses Amal as a step mum adding: "Amal is beautiful and wonderful and a great addition to our family.

"We've loved her ever since we met her. He sure picked a winner with her."

He also hopes George will bring the royals to their hometown and show them their local haunts - including The Augusta Irish Pub, where there's a life-sized cardboard cutout of the Oceans 11 star.

Nanny Connie, aka Connie Simpson, has worked for A-list couples including Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, Cash Warren and Jessica Alba and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
