Stag David Elvin, 31, was handcuffed to a dwarf dressed as an Oompa Loompa when activists stormed the restaurant
VEGAN protesters who stormed a steak restaurant were drowned out by a group of stag do lads chanting and making mooing sounds, The Sun can reveal.
A dwarf dressed as an Oompa Loompa - handcuffed to groom David Elvin - leapt on a table to lead the revellers in chants of "Stand up if you love meat" and "You're not singing any more".
They hit back at campaigners from Direct Action Everywhere who burst into the Touro Steakhouse in Brighton waving anti-meat-eating placards and playing recordings of cows being slaughtered.
Salesman David, 31, from Bedford was out with a dozen pals on his stag when the protesters rushed the restaurant.
Dave's pal Dan Holmes said: "It was all a bit surreal.
"Dave had just been handcuffed to a dwarf dressed as an Oompa Loompa - and the next thing these people rushed in with their placards and playing recordings of cows dying.
“Next thing our Oompa Loompa jumped up on the table and started shouting it at the top of his voice.
“That was the cue for everyone else in the restaurant to join in.
“Soon the whole restaurant was singing, ‘Stand up if you love meat.’
“The manager was so grateful for our support he bought us a round of drinks."
Footage of the demonstration begins with the person filming saying: “This smells horrible, look at all the flesh.”
But as a spokeswoman attempts to give a speech about the benefits of veganism, patrons can be heard mocking her with one mimicking a cow mooing while waiters can be seen arguing with the protesters.
Behind the camera, someone says: “They’re letting us protest but they’re eating the flesh of animals in front of us.”
The protesters remained in the steakhouse for 20 minutes before departing to stand outside.
A spokeswoman for Direct Action Everywhere Brighton said "In a time where we are experiencing mass environmental destruction, largely due to our unsustainable and unethical food choices, it is paramount that we put our egos and selfishness aside and accept that we are all connected, we are all animals.
“We can no longer ignore the suffering and pain we cause. We are not the only sentient beings that inhabit this planet.”
Madsu Sudan Galtam, manager at Touro, said he called the police but officers did not turn up.
It is estimated that the number of vegans in the UK has quadrupled to 650,000 since 2011.
