GLASSES SICKO

Perv with glasses fetish forced victim to wear a pair before performing sex act

Leon Sterba, 33, asked victim for directions to the opticians before putting shades on her and pleasuring himself

A PERV with a glasses fetish forced a pair of shades onto a woman and pleasured himself after asking for directions to the opticians.

Leon Sterba, 33, left his victim feeling "sick" after using her to satisfy his warped obsession with eyewear.

Cardiff Crown Court heard he approached the woman near Llandaff bridge in Cardiff at around 5:20pm on September 28.

After asking her for directions he then produced a pair of sunglasses from a "large bag full of glasses" before asking her if she could see out of them, reports.

Abla O’Callaghan, prosecuting, told the court: "[Sterba] stopped, took a pair of glasses out of the bag he was holding and said to her ‘can you see out of these?’, immediately placing a pair of dark prescription spectacles on her face.

“She looked through the glasses and described them being as being quite strong.”

But within a "matter of seconds" he swapped her shades for a darker pair — and "placed the bag in front of his groin area shielding it from her view", jurors heard.

Ms O’Callaghan added: “She could see his hand moving up and down in his trousers.

"He was moaning and making noises whilst doing so.”

The traumatised victim, who cannot be named, said in an impact statement: "After I think about the incident it makes me feel quite sick.

"When I told my friend I laughed but when I think about it it makes me feel quite afraid."

She added that that the ordeal took place near two schools and she feared that Sterba could have targeted children.

Sterba, a Czech national, had already been banned from entering any opticians without an appointment due to previous offences related to his obsession with women wearing glasses.

He has also pestered women by asking them to switch on the windscreen wipers in their cars, the court heard.

In 2014 Sterba asked an 86-year-old woman to put on her wipers before shoving safety goggles on her face.

And he was already subject to a sexual offences prevention order and an indefinite criminal behaviour order.

Sterba admitted the offence to cops and apologised in his police interview, his defense argued.

Gareth Morely, defending, said: "In layman’s terms this sort of behaviour is bizarre and one would imagine that this man has problems.

"The difficulty is [the] doctor does not diagnose any specific mental illness and is unable to recommend any specific treatment."

Sterba, speaking through an interpreter, pleaded guilty to one count of outraging public indecency and breaching a criminal behaviour order.

Jailing him for eight months, Recorder Catherine Richards said: "I find this was a planned offence.

"You had a bag full of glasses with you and you targeted a lone woman walking home.

"This behaviour makes people fear walking home in their community which they have an absolute right to do."
