A TORY rebel “bought off” with a knighthood has received a mocking letter of congratulations.
Sir John Hayes was honoured on Friday amid calls of cronyism.
Fellow Brexiteer Mark Francois suggested his coat of arms feature an “utter c**k rampant on one side and a big chicken on the other”.
His hilarious but cutting note claims the award is “desperation by a government which has effectively abandoned Brexit . . . to the extent it is reduced to handing out knighthoods to malleable colleagues.”
Sir John said last night: “Mark always been a good MP but now a second career as a wit awaits him.”
