BIRTHDAY boy Prince Charles tonight kicked off celebrations at a special 70th party with Sun readers.
The Prince of Wales clutched bright balloons as he headed inside to celebrate his landmark birthday tonight.
He is partying the night away with the super 70 - those who have brightened up the lives of others and who, like Prince Charles, were born in 1948.
Charles was pictured inside Spencer House in central London being presented with a book by legendary Sun Royal snapper Arthur Edwards with wife Camilla.
The Duchess of Cornwall also appeared to be in good spirits as the couple headed to the party in matching blue earlier this evening.
While the future king gave a sneaky glance into a silver present bag as he headed into the swanky bash.
Those invited to the big day include Age UK volunteer Eileen Thomson and Kathleen Jowett, the group treasurer for the Women's Institute.
Other guests will be committed Scout leader Caryl Gregory and retired policeman Simon Yarwood, who received an MBE after coming to the air of two America tourists who had been in an accident.
The Sun's royal snapper Arthur Edwards said: "To celebrate the prince’s birthday we wanted to meet other inspiring people turning 70 and showcase their efforts for others."
Tonight is just one event of many organised to mark Prince Charles' birthday.
The Queen will also host a glitzy royal party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate her son's 70th birthday.
And a new official family portrait was released by the palace, with it a touching nod to the grandfather.
The two photos, taken by Chris Jackson and issued by Clarence House, offer a candid insight into the dynamics of the burgeoning family.
A raft of solo portraits have also been issued on the occasion of Charles’ significant birthday – with amazing shots of the Prince from babe, to windsurfer, breakdancer, polo-player and kilt-wearing father, son, husband and grandfather.
Prince Charles has also taken his birthday to open up, revealing how he loves squirrels - and even has pet names for them.
The royal confessed to his wildlife passion in the latest issue of Country Life magazine, which he edited for his birthday.
Charles said: "Sometimes when I leave my jackets on a chair with nuts in the pockets, I see them with their tails sticking out, as they hunt for nuts - they are incredibly special creatures."
