Labour MP ‘plotted with brother to dodge speeding fine by blaming former Russian lodger’

A LABOUR MP plotted with her brother to dodge a speeding fine by blaming their former Russian lodger, a court heard.

Fiona Onasanya, 35, named Aleks Antipow as the driver after her Nissan was snapped at 41mph in a 30mph zone.

But at the time, on July 24 last year, he was at his parents’ home 1,800 miles away. Onasanya allegedly got the idea from her brother Festus who provided fake details to avoid speeding raps three times last year.

Prosecutor David Jeremy QC told the Old Bailey: “The two of them were acting jointly in telling lies in order to prevent the prosecution of the true driver.”

Former solicitor Onasanya, of Peterborough, Cambs, denies perverting justice over the offence at Thorney, Cambs.

Delivery driver Festus, 33, admits three counts and will be sentenced after his sister’s trial, which continues.
