Ambulance worker, 33, sexually assaulted teen girl, 18, as she was being rushed to hospital

A MAN who worked as an ambulance assistant has been convicted after sexually assaulting a vulnerable 18-year-old woman being rushed to hospital.
Alexander Hughes was working as an Emergency Care Assistant when he groped the distressed teen while she was being taken to hospital by ambulance in July 2014.
He later searched her details on social media platforms and sent her sexually-charged posts requesting to exchange explicit pictures of each other following her emergency care.
Hughes, 33, later sexually assaulted an 18-year-old woman while working at a nightclub as a first-aider while on duty in 2017, after a woman became distressed after she fell seriously ill while partying.
He had failed to tell his new employers of the police investigation into his previous sexual assault while working in the emergency services.
Hughes, of Oakfield, Cwmbran, South Wales, was charged on November 16 last year of four sex offences covering the 2014 attack in High Wycombe and 2017 assault at Motion nightclub in Bristol.
Following a joint investigation between Thames Valley Police and Avon and Somerset Police, Hughes was convicted of sexual assault.
His victims were forced to face the ordeal of a trial at Crown Court to help secure his conviction, after he had abused his position of trust to sexually assault vulnerable women.
He was found guilty unanimously by a jury at Aylesbury Crown Court of one count of sexual assault by touching and three counts of sexual assault by penetration.
Investigating officer for Thames Valley Police, Detective Constable Jenna Wilde from Aylesbury police station, said: “Hughes was in a position of trust and his actions caused tremendous distress to the victims.
“He also put them through the ordeal of a trial.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the two women involved in this case for their bravery and support.”
Detective Constable Liz Howell, Investigating officer for Avon and Somerset Police, said: “Hughes is a predatory individual who used his position as a first-aider to target women while they were particularly vulnerable.
“His victims were shocked to be assaulted by someone they had put their trust in and who they thought was there to help them.
”I am grateful to them for their bravery in supporting this case.”
Hughes is now due to be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on November 16.
