But he has now revealed he cannot afford to inject the same kind of cash to keep the brand afloat.

He told the : "I haven’t got any more (money).

"There’s a point where I can’t put the other side of the business at risk as well and the people who work there."

Jamie's Italian opened its first restaurant in 2008 but racked up debts of £71.5million.

But Jamie said he remains optimistic, adding: "The upside is I am now fully in control of the restaurant business. We're getting on top of it."

A spokesperson for Jamie's Italian said: "We have a robust and strong growth strategy in place for our UK restaurant group and together with the support of the bank and the management team look forward to a positive future."

Dad-of-five Jamie also revealed he wants to renew his vows with wife Jools, 43, after 20 years.

He said his missus had been the driving force behind the decision — which will be a party for all their friends.

Speaking to Event magazine, Jamie said: “Jools wants to get married again.

“We're gonna do it again. Renew our vows to celebrate our 20th anniversary.”

The pair were married in 2000 at the River Café in West London but that they will do it “completely differently” this time around.

He said: “It sounds a bit cheesy, but 20 is an amazing milestone. It's nice to have an excuse to get people together.”

Jamie also revealed that he would like best friend Jimmy Doherty to be his best man.

The couple have five children, Poppy Honey, 16, Daisy Boo, 15, Petal Blossom, nine, Buddy Bear, eight, and River Rocket, two.
