Their four-year-old labrador collie cross is well and truly in the doghouse

A NEWLYWED couple spent thousands on a honeymoon trip to Bali only to be refused entry after flying for 16-hours because they were carrying a passport that had been nibbled by their dog.

Indonesian airport officials ordered Daniel and Tia Farthing to board the next flight home after deciding the damaged document was not acceptable - despite British authorities giving it the all clear.

The pair spent £4,000 on their dream holiday to the tropical Indonesian island.

But to their horror they found themselves landing back in Britain after a 15,544-mile round trip - less than 48 hours after they left.

Their four year old labrador collie cross called Milo was just a puppy when he chewed the passport.

The naughty pup plucked it from the post four years ago and nibbled away the binding corner of the travel document.

Tia, 25, said: “He knows he’s done wrong because he’s been constantly coming to us for cuddles."

Chef Daniel has previously used the passport to travel around Europe without any problems and he managed to comfortably pass through Singapore with his new wife.

He said UK Border Force staff assured him it would be fine as no crucial identifying details were destroyed by the chewing.

Adding to the ordeal, after they were sent back Daniel, 26, was detained for seven hours in Singapore.

He was locked in a room with 30 others and made to feel like a criminal.

He told the : "I was shaking and throwing up. It was a horrendous experience."

Tia, of Hadleigh, Suffolk, said it was “really scary” being separated from Daniel and that they ran up a £216 phone bill ringing relatives.

Hospital receptionist Tia said: “We got married last year and planned our honeymoon for our first anniversary. We’d booked an elephant safari, a villa and pool. It was going to be so special.”

She added: “When we landed back at Heathrow, an air hostess looked at the passport and said, ‘Is this what all the fuss was about?’”

The couple were left with just £600 of their honeymoon budget. Relatives have started a crowdfunding page for them .
