Two innocent men accused of rape demand that CPS boss Alison Saunders isn’t made a dame
Liam Allan, 23, and Samuel Armstrong, 25, want her to become the first former Director of Public Prosecutions to be snubbed in the New Year’s honours list
TWO innocent men hauled to court for rape have demanded that the Crown Prosecution Service boss must not be made a dame.
Alison Saunders, 57, is expected to get the honour despite stepping down this month over a string of “catastrophic failures”.
Liam Allan, 23, and Samuel Armstrong, 25, want her to become the first former Director of Public Prosecutions to be snubbed in the New Year’s honours list.
They and others saw their rape trials collapse when it emerged evidence proving their innocence was not shared by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The pair told the Daily Telegraph: “Many of us lost jobs, homes and relationships.
"It appears many of the issues raised have still not been properly resolved.”
