What is Nick Clegg's political history?
The dad-of-three served as the UK’s Deputy Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015, as part of a coalition with Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron.
During his time as Deputy PM many Lib Dem supporters lost faith in him.
And in the 2015 General Election the Liberal Democrats lost 49 seats reducing them from 57 to eight and he resigned as the party leader - a position he had held since 2007.
In the 2017 General Election his political career came to an abrupt end when he was voted out of his seat of Sheffield Hallam which he had held since 2005.
When he was first elected leader of the Lib Dems he was faced with reviving the flagging fortunes of the party.
Following the 2010 General Elections he agreed to bring his party into a coalition with the Tories after there was a hung parliament.
What has Nick Clegg said in his role in Facebook?
In his new post-politics role as Facebook's head of global affairs, Clegg called for tech firms and politicians to work together to regulate social media.
His comments came as Damian Collins, the chair of the House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, said that a regulator could take action in cases like the suicide of Molly Russell.
The 14-year-old's parents have blamed her death on disturbing images she saw on Facebook's picture-sharing service Instagram.
Clegg said Facebook alone should not be making ethical or political decisions about what should or should not be allowed on social media, and called on governments and regulators to work with the platform.
He said: "Everyone has a role in this. Facebook doesn't have all the answers.
"But nor do governments or regulators either. We must learn from each other and work together.
"I know there are few debates that are as important as this.
"The time is ripe to bring together the best ideas from Europe, from Silicon Valley and beyond, to set the rules for an internet that works for all."
Clegg insisted Facebook was ready to change everything it was doing to get it right.
But he added: “I know this sounds counter-intuitive but they do say that, in some instances, it’s better to keep some of the distressing images up if that helps people make a cry for help and get the support they need."
