BRITAIN will be braced for a chilling Halloween this year as snow is predicted to start falling in the UK next week.
The Met Office is forecasting an unusually warm weekend this week before temperatures plunge ahead of the trick or treat season.
And the snow could begin falling in the UK as early as next Friday, but Brits in the Midlands and the South don't need to worry about being snowed in just yet.
A Met Office spokesperson told The Sun Online: "There is quite a reasonable possibility of some snow for the high ground in the North.
"There's always a chance up in the hills of Scotland, the further north you go the more likely you are to get snow this time of year.
"Next week, it's getting colder towards the end of the week."
Though a warm weekend is on the way, the mercury fell as low as -2.5C in North Yorkshire last night and another freezing evening is predicted for tonight.
It will be particularly cold in the South East where fog is also likely to set in overnight.
But Saturday will see sunshine for many as southerly winds and clear skies help the thermometers reach as high as 16C for many.
The average temperature for this time of year is a much chillier 13C.
The warm weather will centre mainly around England and Wales — whereas further North and West temperatures will still hover around the mid-teens.
Sunday will see the weather begin to shift as a cold front moves in — signalling a drop in temperatures and cloudier conditions.
There may be some patches of rain and gusty winds in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but even still it will generally remain warm for this time of year.
The cold weather has already rolled in for some with temperatures falling as low as -3.5C in Katesbridge, Northern Ireland on Wednesday night.
But Britain is going to get really cold weather in November, though it is too early to tell how cold it will get or if there will be more widespread snow.
It follows days of balmy 23C temperatures and glorious sunshine earlier this week.
