KENSINGTON Palace has refused to comment on whether Meghan Markle's father Thomas has been told she is pregnant.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed on Twitter this morning they are expecting their first child in the Spring.
Prince Harry and Meghan broke the exciting news to senior royals at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday.
Kensington Palace said the Queen is “delighted” by the revelation and Meghan's mum has said she is "very happy."
But when the Sun Online asked if Meghan's dad had been informed we were told they were making "no comment."
The Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with her father is thought to be incredibly strained following his embarrassing interviews and staged paparazzi photos.
The dad-of-three, from Rosarito, Mexico, previously told The Sun how he fears he will be “locked out forever” by Meghan and the royals.
He said at the time: “I want to say good luck and God bless to my daughter. I don’t expect to see her or hear back from her and that’s ok.”
It's been reported that Thomas has not spoken to Meghan since just after her wedding day five months ago.
However, earlier this year, Thomas Markle revealed now his daughter has wanted children “for a long time”.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain in June he predicted news of a new royal arrival may be imminent.
Thomas Markle, 73, said: “She’s wanted children for a long time and when she met Harry and she spoke how much she loves him, there’s got to be a child in the making, somewhere soon.
“I don’t think the stork has hit the air soon but I think it will happen soon.
“As long as they’re happy and they have a great life and have some beautiful children and do good things in the world, I can’t ask for more.”
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland has said she was “very happy” with today's news and is looking forward to the birth of her first grandchild.
Posting the happy news to Twitter this morning, Kensington Palace said: " Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."
The announcement comes nearly five months to the day that they were married in a lavish ceremony in May this year at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
