MEGHAN Markle's mum today said she was "very happy" at the "lovely news" the Duchess of Sussex is expecting her first child with Prince Harry.
Doria Ragland, 62, released a statement through Kensington Palace after the Royal couple made the announcement this morning.
It read: "Ms Doria Ragland is very happy about the lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild." The Palace did not specify if Meghan's dad Thomas had been informed.
Ms Ragland sparked pregnancy rumours last month after she was seen attending nannying classes in California amid reports she may move to London.
The news of her pregnancy was announced just moments after Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, touched down in Australia for the first leg of their tour Down Under.
Posting the happy news to Twitter this morning, Kensington Palace said: " Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.
"Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."
The baby will be seventh in line to the throne, and the Queen's eighth great-grandchild. He or she will also be a first cousin of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The announcement comes nearly five months to the day that they were married in a lavish ceremony in May this year at St George's Chapel in Windsor.
Just last week rumours swirled that Meghan was pregnant after she appeared at Princess Eugenie's wedding wearing a long, loose-fitting coat.
It is understood Harry and Meghan told the Queen and the rest of the Royal family at Princess Eugenie's wedding on Friday.
This morning the pair held hands and smiled as they arrived in Australia, accompanied by a ten-man entourage for their first international tour as a couple.
The Duchess of Sussex looked fresh and excited for their tour as they were greeted by excited fans.
But Meghan sparked a flurry of pregnancy rumours ahead of the announcement, clutching purple folders in front of her stomach as she walked hand in hand with her husband.
Even her dad Thomas, whom she is believed not to have spoken to since her wedding, said he expected children soon.
He told ITV's Good Morning Britain in an interview a month after the duke and duchess married: "She's wanted children for a long time and when she met Harry and she spoke about how much she loves him, there's got to be a child in the making, somewhere soon.
