Jim Carrey brands Donald Trump a ‘traitor’ over Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation and demands curb on presidential powers
The actor, who has become known for his political cartoons, slammed America's ability to look after women and children
COMEDIAN Jim Carrey called Donald Trump a "traitor" and Brett Kavanaugh a "privileged goon" during an interview at a festival this weekend.
The actor slammed the US President just hours after Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court with a 50-48 Senate vote.
He told the audience at The New Yorker Festival: "We need to revisit presidential powers. I don't think the founding fathers had a traitor in mind for the highest office.
"Today is not the end of the world. That is tentatively scheduled for November. But you can do something to change it!"
During his chat with The New Yorker associate cartoon editor and humour writer, Colin Stokes, he said: "What's the positive there?
"Hanger sales go through the roof?"
Brett Kavanaugh was accused of historic sexual offencesCarrey has talked openly in the past about his ongoing battles with his mental health. In an interview with the , the 55-year-old said that his depression "no longer drowns him".He turned to art as a method to cope with his mind, dabbling with political cartoons, explaining that his creative hobby helps him with his emotions.
"I feel feelings, and that's the only way I can deal with them is to turn them into something positive. All pain equals art."
Trump often features in Carrey's drawings - a recent one depicted the president as a Godzilla type character stomping over The White House.
He shared a drawing of Dr Christine Ford with his Twitter followers on Saturday.

"A country that doesn't take care of its women and take care of its children in our schools is not the country we can fight for."
