Unite boss Len McCluskey believes UK security services are using ‘dark forces’ to block Jeremy Corbyn from becoming Prime Minister
Last month the Labour leader's adviser, Andrew Murray, said a 'deep state' was working to stop Mr Corbyn from getting into Downing Street
BRITAIN’S security services could be working to stop Jeremy Corbyn entering No10, his biggest union backer Len McCluskey said last night.
The Unite boss said he wouldn’t be surprised if there were “dark forces at play” trying to undermine the Labour leader.
His comments echo Mr Corbyn’s adviser Andrew Murray who last month claimed a “deep state” was working to prevent the leftie into Downing Street.
In an interview with the House Magazine, Mr McCluskey said: “Of course, there is this view, and my god we’ve lived through it all our lives, that the security forces play an unhealthy role in the democratic processes that exist in our nation, both in trade unions and indeed in our political life.
“Would I be surprised if there were dark forces at play?
No.
But is it something I particularly worry about?
Not at the moment, I haven’t got time to worry about that.
“I’m more concerned about what’s happening in the real world.
It’s not something that occupies my mind.”
Last month Mr Murray blamed the delay on getting a security pass for Parliament the work of a “deep state” conspiracy.
Speaking after revelations he has been banned from visiting Ukraine because of his support for Vladimir Putin, Mr Murray, a former member of the Communist party, said: “Someone else is doing the hard work – possibly someone being paid by the taxpayer.
“I doubt if their job description is preventing the election of a Corbyn government, but who knows?
“We are often told that the days of secret state political chicanery are long past and we must hope so.
But sometimes you have to wonder – this curiously timed episode seems less rooted in a Kiev security scare than in a political stunt closer to home.”
