PRINCE Harry today warned kids not to play Fortnite too young as he revealed his concerns around the online game.

The 34-year-old's caution comes as kids as young as nine have been revealed to be in the grips of a dangerous addiction to the game sweeping Britain.

And while the Duke of Sussex was happy to hand out high fives and handshakes to the excited students, it was revealed the sixth-in-line to the throne gave the pupils a stark warning about the game as they chatted outside the Royal Pavilion in Brighton.

Queen’s Park Primary School Year Four teacher Emma Johnston said: "He was saying that it’s a concern of his, children playing the game before they are allowed to.

"We were saying that as a school it’s a concern for us too.”

Eight-year-old students also said the royal even exclaimed "what is wrong with parents" after they said they were allowed to play the online game.

Another student said: "He asked how old we are and we said that we were eight and he said you guys shouldn't really play Fortnite".

It comes after it was revealed the app passed 100million downloads on iPhones in just 138 days - as concerns about the game's popularity have continued to grow.

Young children and parents have spoken out about their own problems with the game, with teen Carl Thompson revealing how he wound up playing Fortnite for 12 hours a day after becoming addicted.

Back in June, reports emerged of a nine-year-old girl being taken to rehab for her addiction to Fortnite.

Meghan Markle crouches down to chat with kids during visit to Chichester in Sussex

The girl is said to have wet herself during a 10-hour Fortnite binge, and even hit her dad when he tried to confiscate the Xbox console.

That same month, dad-of-two Lee Harmer revealed how he nearly lost his job, family and home after becoming so addicted to the game that he snorted cocaine to keep playing through the night.

The warning came as the royal couple made their first official visit to Sussex today after becoming duke and duchess of the county.

Meghan and Harry both made sure to pay particular attention to young kids who lined the streets to welcome them to Sussex.

Crowds chanted "Harry, Harry" as the pair toured through sites including the University of Chichester and the historic Royal Pavilion - built by George, Prince of Wales, who later became the Prince Regent, in the 1780s.

The Sun recently uncovered how Fortnite's creators have designed the game to get you hooked as quickly as possible – through friendship guilt and personalised rewards.

And we also revealed the five warning signs that could show when your child has become dangerously obsessed with video games.
