How old is Alistair Darling?
Darling was born in Hendon, in what was then Middlesex, on 28 November 1953, making him 64 years old.
He joined the Labour party at the age of 23 in 1977 before becoming a solicitor in 1978.
In 1982 he was elected to the Lothian Regional Council until he was elected to the House of Commons.
In 1987 Darling first entered Parliament after winning the Edinburgh Central seat in a general election.
