The Budget MUST put more money in people’s pockets…not remove it with a tax raid

The Chancellor apparently intends to take MORE of our money for the NHS in his upcoming Budget

WHAT does Philip Hammond have up his sleeve to make Sun readers better off?

For all the wise words in his conference speech — on the opportunities of new technology, the horrific dangers of Corbyn’s socialism and the importance of job-creating businesses — he needs answers to more immediate questions.

The signs are ominous. The Chancellor, while admitting “21st Century capitalism must deliver” for ordinary people, apparently intends to take MORE of our money for the NHS in his upcoming Budget.

Polls apparently show voters are OK with that. But wait till it comes out of wage packets. Skint workers won’t thank the Tories for bailing out the health service. They’ll desert them for grabbing yet more of their take-home pay.

Mr Hammond’s speech wasn’t all bad. His case against socialism was well put. Likewise his view that no sane party should try to outbid Corbyn’s ruinous spending pledges. We welcome his proposed digital services tax on Google and Facebook if it can be made to work. ut Tory fortunes hinge on Brexit — and pay rises easily outstripping inflation.

The Budget MUST put more money in pockets . . . not remove it with a tax raid or a suicidal rise in fuel duty.

Brussels pout

THE EU’s cry-bullies are OUTRAGED that Jeremy Hunt compared their aggression to the old Soviet Union. Well, diddums.

The Foreign Secretary’s speech did not literally compare Juncker to Stalin’s regime of mass murder

He noted, quite reasonably, that Brussels’ forcible attempts to lock Britain in and deter others from leaving was reminiscent of the Soviet empire’s treatment of its member states.

It is a figure of speech. The Foreign Secretary’s not literally comparing Juncker to Stalin’s regime of mass murder. And the EU has no defence. Which is why its lackeys, such as curtain-haired clown Guy Verhofstadt, instead wilfully misinterpreted him for dramatic effect.

One even whined it could “damage relations” with other member states. Are they for real? The French president brands Brexit campaigners “liars” — implying 17.4million Brits are dupes. Donald Tusk humiliates our PM. But WE’RE in danger of souring relations.

Give it a rest, EU fools.

Terror betrayal

HOW appalling that the sisters of terror victim cop Keith Palmer have no Legal Aid to pursue the truth at his inquest.

Michelle Palmer and Angela Clark want to hire an independent expert to assess whether a permanent armed presence at Parliament’s Carriage Gates entrance might have saved their brother.

But the Legal Aid Agency hasn’t processed their application. Meanwhile the women claim the Met is actively hostile.

Why are the Government and police making enemies of Keith’s family?

Justice Secretary David Gauke should grant them legal aid today.
