TERRIFYING footage shows a machete-wielding thug threatening a bleeding man on the ground who is heard desperately begging for his life.
The vicious attack was filmed as tourists walked down the Raval district of Barcelona, an area known for its drug gangs and prostitution, near the city's gothic quarter.
A shirtless man holding a large machete blade is seen standing over a crying victim - who is lying helplessly on the ground covered in blood while pleading for mercy.
As the aggressor walks away, he suddenly charges while swinging the massive knife causing the wounded man to let out a blood-curdling screech.
When the knifeman, who is not wearing any shoes, eventually leaves the scene, two tourists are seen hurriedly walking by the bloodied victim.
Another witness quickly emerges and can be seen using his phone to call for help while the panicked victim continues to weep.
Pools of blood can be seen on the ground beside the wounded man although the extent of his injuries are not yet known.
While details surrounding the attack remain unclear, one local claims the incident happened at 8pm local time yesterday evening.
The disturbing assault was filmed by an onlooker from a first floor window on Carrer de les Carretes.
According to a local journalist, this is the second knife attack in the street in the last nine days.
In May, two men threatened each other with machetes and knives in the same district in Barcelona.
Shocked residents filmed the terrifying incident in Raval while the city's police were scrambled and arrested one man at the scene.
The other, who was injured, was arrested in hospital.
