Moment Hackney Carnival-goers are beaten on the ground – before elderly women steps in to shield them from punches and kicks
One of the victims was beaten by the crowd to the chant of 'F*** her up!
A HORRIFYING video shows two separate brawls at the Hackney Carnival where victims were kicked and punched on the ground.
The shocking footage was widely shared online and appears to have been taken at the Council-run event in London on Sunday.
The second victim is a young woman shown lying face down in the gutter as a group of people punch and kick her in the head.
The onslaught is momentarily stopped when an elderly woman steps in to shield her as attackers continue to stamp on the victim's head from all sides.
A woman goading the crowd in the clip can be heard shouting: "F**k her up! F**k her up! F**k her up!
"New friends, new friends, her wig is off!"
The clip shows the peacemaker being shoved around by the frenzied crowd as she desperately tries to stop the violence.
But people appear to restrain the elderly woman, who is wearing glasses on her head and carrying a canvas bag.
It's not clear what sparked the horrific incident, or if the people involved know each other.
Earlier in the video, in what appears to be a different thrashing, a young man is also thrown to the floor and beaten.
The male victim was wearing a white t-shirt with a yellow bag, and is shown being kicked by people all around him while bystanders film on their phones.
Others near the first attack are heard screaming while some revellers try to break up the violence.
But the elderly woman appears only to have protected the second, female victim.
The person who uploaded the video wrote: "So this was going down at Hackney carnival?"
The Metropolitan Police said that they were unable to provide more information on the video.
