Mother and daughter suspended for ‘helping inmates transfer to lower category prisons’
Around 25 prisoners are alleged to have been switched from high-security Category B HMP Doncaster, South Yorkshire
A MUM and daughter working at a tough prison have been suspended for allegedly helping fast-track cons to cushy nicks.
Carrie Lawson, 35, and mum Linda Cook, 53, are claimed to have made up to £25,000 by getting inmates early jail transfer reviews.
They are said to have been paid between £500 and £1,000 for doctoring paperwork to downgrade the categorisation of cons and used an ex-prison colleague to represent the inmates at the reviews.
Around 25 prisoners are alleged to have been switched from high- security Category B HMP Doncaster, South Yorks.
A source said: “The alleged scam meant prisoners got to an easier jail. All the re-categorised cases are being reviewed.”
Offender manager Carrie and admin head Linda have been suspended by offender management firm Catch 22.
Neither wished to comment when approached by The Sun.
A probe is under way and cops informed.
