Who is Alex Henriquez, how was the New York serial killer caught and what did he say in the Piers Morgan interview?
The killer was convicted of murders 30 years ago, including children, and sent to jail without possibility of parole
ALEX Henriquez was jailed for 75 years for murdering two children and a young woman but continues to maintain his innocence.
Here is the story of the man convicted of a spate of killings that haunted the Bronx, New York, for years.
Who is Alex Henriquez?
Alex Henriquez is a serial killer who, aged 31, was given the longest possible sentence which was three consecutive terms of 25 years in prison
The businessman was convicted in 1992 of murdering Jessica Guzman, 10, Shamira Bello, 14, and a 21-year-old woman called Lisa Ann Rodriguez.
He was arrested following a national outcry which followed the death of Guzman in 1990.
This had prompted the New York Police Department to assemble a task force.
They investigated the string of murders that haunted the Bronx for two years.
How was Henriquez caught?
No one suspected he was a prime suspect for the murders where the victims were strangled and beaten with rocks.
But he was eventually charged with the murders because he was the last person to have been seen with young Jessica and was well known to the other victims.
Henriquez is also considered a suspect, but has not been charged, in three other deaths.
The murder victims were Heriberto Marrero, 15, his niece, Nilda Cartagena, 13, and Annette Rosario, 17.
Is the serial killer being interviewed by Piers Morgan?
Henriquez already has been interviewed for an ITV show called Serial Killer with Piers Morgan.
In this new documentary, which is part of ITV’s Crime & Punishment season, Morgan goes behind bars to find the truth from Henriquez while speaking to investigators from the time.
The show airs on Thursday, September 13, at 9pm.
