McDonald’s staff swing brooms to chase a RAT from busy restaurant as it scurries under tables in Croydon
The video, shared on social media, shows the rodent scampering across the floor as staff use brooms and mops to shoo it out the door. Pest control experts were called in immediately
STAFF at a busy McDonald’s restaurant have been captured on video using brooms to get rid of a rat as it scurries around tables.
The footage, which has been shared on social media, shows the rodent running across the restaurant floor as staff try to shoo it towards the front door with mops.
More than 160,000 people have viewed the video taken by a customer at the Croydon branch on Friday and shared on Facebook.
A spokesman for the restaurant said staff were able to chase the rat out before calling in pest control experts to check for more.
The video was taken at the restaurant in Church Street.
The spokesman told the : “Hygiene and cleanliness is of utmost importance to us.”
“A rodent made a well-timed run through the front door but our staff reacted quickly to make sure the visit was a very brief one and ushered it out of the restaurant, unharmed.
“We immediately asked pest control experts to carry out a check of the restaurant, with further checks [also taking place] in recent days.
“All of these checks have confirmed no evidence of pest activity and we are confident that this is an isolated incident.”
Earlier this year a teenager was left disgusted after finding a dead bug in a McDonald’s Chicken Legend.
And an ex-McDonald’s worker posted photos on Twitter last year of what he claimed were the mouldy innards of a McFlurry machine.
