Bodies of ‘up to’ five dead including woman and children found in house in quiet Australian suburb as man in his 20s held
Investigating forensics and detectives have cordoned off the road from traffic, meanwhile a man 'in his 20s' is in police custody
CHILDREN and at least one woman have been found dead at a house in a quiet suburb in western Australia.
‘Up to’ five bodies were found at a home in the west coast city of Perth after a man went to a police station on Sunday morning.
Believed to be in his 20s, the man is now in police custody.
A neighbour who says he regularly saw a family outside the house where the bodies were found said he is in “complete shock”.
Vagner de Souza said his neighbours were “just a normal family, you would never imagine anything like that happening.
“You hear something happening so close, it’s really distressing.”
Maria Manfredini is also a resident in the area. She described the incident as “tragic on every level”.
“It’s horrid to think that in such a beautiful area that’s calm and quiet that something so tragic has taken place,” she said.
Cops could not confirm exactly how many bodies were found, but Assistant Commissioner Steel said the investigation was still at a “very early stage”.
The exact ages and genders of the victims are currently unknown, with police confirming that at least one of them was a woman.
The relationship of the victims to the man is also unknown.
Assistant Commissioner Steel said officers were still working hard to establish a timeline of what happened.
