Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris ‘was more than twice the drink-drive limit’ when police stopped him in his new £65k Porsche at 2.20am
The France and Tottenham captain was caught by cops in Marylebone, London, just over a month after he lifted the World Cup in Moscow
TOTTENHAM Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was allegedly caught over twice the drink-drive limit, it can be revealed.
The 31-year-old French international was pulled over by police in his new £65,000 Porsche Panamera in London's West End at 2AM on August 24.
According to court papers he is charged with driving the 4-litre sports car with 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35.
The Frenchman, who lifted the World Cup this summer, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on 12 September.
The home address that he gave to police is a large £5.9million mansion in East Finchley, North London.
The road runs parallel to The Bishops Avenue aka ‘Billionaire’s Row’ and is one of the capital’s most exclusive neighbourhoods.
If convicted, the regular Spurs captain will face up to 6 months in prison, an unlimited fine, and a driving ban.
He was originally bailed to appear in court on September 11, but this has been put back 24 hours at the request of his solicitors.
Lloris was left out of France's line-up in their 0-0 draw against Germany in UEFA's Nations League earlier this week.
But this decision appears to be linked to a thigh injury which has also kept him out of the Spurs squad during their 2-1 defeat to Watford last Sunday.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has stood by his troubled keeper, saying he "never considered" dropping Lloris as team captain despite the drink driving accusations.
Lloris apologised for his behaviour shortly after his arrest.
He said:"I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my team-mates, the manager and all of the supporters.
“Drink-driving is completely unacceptable. I take full responsibility for my actions and it is not the example I wish to set.”
