Mario Lemina has been slapped with the UK’s biggest speeding fine – a whopping £96,000
He was also given 18 penalty points leading to a year ban
PREMIER League star Mario Lemina was fined £96,000 yesterday after failing to tell cops if he was driving when his car was clocked speeding three times.
The fine is understood to be the biggest to date for a UK motoring offence.
The Southampton ace, 25, said he did not know if his brother or cousin, both staying with him at the time, were behind the wheel of his £50,000 Mercedes-AMG GLA45. But he admitted three counts of failing to notify police after ignoring their letters.
The fine is three times his £32,000-a-week pay — but it could have risen to £144,000 if he had denied it.

He also got 18 points on top of the 21 he already had on his non-UK licence, leading to a year’s ban.
Gabon international Lemina, who signed in a club record £18.1million deal last season from Juventus, did not appear at Aldershot magistrates’ court. The club said it “will be discussing the matter” with him.
Shamed TV star Ant McPartlin was fined £86,000 for drink driving in April – which was then a record for a motoring offence in the UK.
