Dad confronts flytippers who dumped mattress – and is accused of being RACIST
Birmingham man Craig Hardwick was praised by his local council for his 'community spirited' actions
THIS is the moment a dad confronts a pair of flytippers trying to dump a mattress outside his home - and is accused of being RACIST.
Craig Hardwick, 37, challenged the two men on camera as they tried to dump the bedding against a tree at the back of houses in Walsall.
The disgusted dad forced them to remove the mattress from the community area, sharing the confrontation on Facebook Live.
He told them: 'Put it back in your f***ing car and get rid of it now.'
Craig had immediately started recording when he spotted the men and managed to capture his interrogation of the would-be flytippers.
He said: 'I'm recording you and I'm sending it to the police.'
The men initially agreed and began hauling the mattress back up a path.
But, realising Craig was still filming, they threatened to abandon the mattress outside his home and called him a racist.
The Brummie dad - who did not say anything racist - hit back yelling at them: 'I am NOT a racist!'
"Don't play that card with me," he said.
As the men refused to back down, he then repeatedly tells them to take the rubbish back to their own house.
Craig, who works in transport, wrote alongside the footage: 'I told them where the tip was on Beechdale. What a disgrace, please share.
'Sorry about the language but this kind of thing makes me mad.
Craig followed the men until they walked into the street and is unsure what they did with the mattress.
He said: 'Unfortunately I see this sort of thing everywhere and it's disgusting.
'Though I've never seen anything like a mattress. It infuriated me when they said they were leaving it there and I just had to do something.
'Hopefully they took it home.'
His community spirit has since been praised by Walsall Council.
Steve Gittins, from the council, wrote in an email to Craig: 'Thank you for being community spirited enough to challenge such inappropriate behaviour.'
