EID al-Adha 2021 is officially here as millions of Muslims celebrate the Festival of Sacrifice across the glob.

Here are some of the best ways that you can wish someone a happy Eid al-Adha.

What is Eid al-Adha and how long does it last?

Lasting four days in total, Eid al-Adha is an annual celebration of Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son to Allah.

While some Muslims travel to Mecca to mark the occasion, others celebrate in their local mosque.

Like American Thanksgiving or Christmas, Eid al-Adha encourages followers to be thankful for their loved ones, repent any past sins and learn for the future.

And just like we have countless ways of saying "happy holidays", sending messages to friends and family during Eid al-Adha is customary in this religious culture.

What does Eid Mubarak mean?

Eid Mubarak is a traditional Muslim greeting reserved for the holy festivals of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

"Eid" means "celebration" and "mubarak" means "blessed".

The saying can be translated as "have a blessed holiday".

It is then customary to reply "Khair Mubarak" to return the person's good wishes.
