Lucas Gary Narkle, 19, pulls the girl from her seat and drags her towards the oncoming train as she struggles.

The girl collapses just feet from being thrown in front of the train and escaped unhurt.

Narkle pleaded guilty to endangering the girl's life at the time.

He was taken into custody and spent more than three months in prison until he was granted bail by the Supreme Court in February.

Narkle - who was initially charged with attempted murder - was armed with a baseball bat, although both sides agreed it was not used.

but his sentencing was delayed following a last-minute change of heart by his young victim.

A prosecutor reportedly told the court the girl – who had previously refused to co-operate with the investigation – had decided to tender a victim impact statement.

Judge Simon Stretton agreed to a request to delay sentencing, and Narkle’s bail was continued until a hearing next week.

Stretton said on Wednesday he was unlikely to impose further jail time on Narkle.

He said: "I have to bear in mind that his actual actions here are brief, irresponsible and didn't cause any physical harm at all.

"I think nothing is going to be served by imposing a further term of actual imprisonment.

"But I am strongly inclined towards an extended community service work."
