THIS is the shocking moment tourists visiting Rome’s iconic Trevi Fountain appear to brawl after a reported row over a selfie.
At least eight people were drawn into the ruckus after two women are said to have disagreed about who should take a photo in front of the landmark first.
A 19-year-old Dutch tourist tussled with a 44-year-old Italian-American woman for prime position.
The women appear to strike each other repeatedly, before both families get involved.
The fight, which broke out at the world famous fountain on Wednesday, was captured on camera by astounded tourists after the verbal confrontation took an ugly turn.
The brawl is said to have lasted just minutes before cops intervened – but the truce didn't last long before the melee resumed.
Two more officers were called in to break up the altercation and bring it to a halt.
Local media suggests neither woman has been charged.
The Trevi Fountain dates back to 1612 and was designed by architect Nicola Salvi, before being completed by Giuseppe Pannini in 1762.
One of the world’s most famous fountains, it attracts thousands of visitors every year with more than 3,000 euros thrown in by tourists daily.
Last year, Rome’s mayor Virginia Raggi warned tourists they faced fines of around €240 (£215) for eating or drinking while sitting on the edge of the Trevi.
It is illegal to sit on it, or to paddle or wash in its waters.
Pets are also forbidden from drinking from the fountain.
