Lad goes for a quick pint after work – and wake up in MAGALUF to furious texts from girlfriend who had cooked tea
Alun Griffiths, 27, and pal Nigel Lewis ended up going on a two day bender at the Spanish party town
A BRIT woke up in Magaluf to furious messages from his girlfriend after going out for what he thought would be a quick pint after work.
Alun Griffiths, 27, received a phone call from his partner who said "food's ready" as he touched down on the Spanish resort.
"My Mrs rang me saying 'where are you?'," said Alun, who flew to Palma with pal Nigel Lewis after going for after work drinks on Tuesday.
After landing the duo hopped in a taxi and headed to party town Magaluf for a two day bender.
He added: "I said 'I'm in Magaluf' and she said 'food's ready' and I said 'I'm not joking, I won't be home for a few days'.
"She wasn't best pleased."
Alun, from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, called in at Gurnos Club on his way home from work, planning to have a few drinks with friends.
He told : "I was in work on Tuesday morning and I'd woken up in a stupid mood when you just get a feeling you're going to do something stupid.
"After work I went to the Gurnos Club and there was about 15 of us all talking about holidays. So I said 'anyone want to go on holiday now? Let's go up the airport and see where we can go anywhere in the world'."
Alun and Nigel went to Cardiff Airport and booked a flight the same evening to Palma. They fell asleep during the journey and woke up on the Spanish island.
"There's a Palma in Italy too so we didn't know if we were going to the one in Spain or Italy," Alun added. "We fell asleep on the plane and woke up in Spain - thank God."
The pair went straight out on the lash as soon as they arrived. They hadn't even booked a hotel or return flight.
"The first night we stopped drinking at 5.30am," Alun said.
"The next morning we kept drinking right through and booked a hotel for the Wednesday night, had a sleep for an hour and carried on and came back on Thursday."
He added: "When we got back we went back to the Gurnos Club - it was crazy.
"They had all said it's a stupid idea but because we actually went and broke the routine, when we were out there they were all saying 'we're trying to book flights out there'.
"We all ended up booking a holiday to Benidorm.
"My family didn't know I'd gone until I was out there."

But Alun's trip wasn't cheap.
"It cost us £90 each to get out there and £307 for the hotel for one night and my Mrs booked for us to come back," he said.
"It was about £800 each altogether."
