Donald Trump ‘has sunbed in White House and wanted to be sworn in with his OWN book’, former aide in N-word row claims
Omarosa Manigault Newman made the claims in her explosive book Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House
DONALD Trump has a sunbed in the White House and wanted to be sworn in with his own book instead of the Bible, a former aide has said.
Omarosa Manigault Newman made these claims and others – all strongly denied by the US president – in her explosive new book titled Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House.
Manigault Newman was a contestant on Trump's reality show The Apprentice and later served as a senior adviser to the president.
In her book, she says she remembers the Republican asking her: “Omarosa, what do you think about me getting sworn in on The Art of the Deal?”
She claims she asked: “Instead of the Bible?” before Trump allegedly replied: “Yeah. The Art of the Deal is a bestseller!
“It’s the greatest business book of all time.”
Manigault Newman claims Trump added: “Just think how many copies I’d sell – maybe a commemorative inauguration copy!”
She writes that she told him to forget about it and that "we laughed, he wanted me to believe he was kidding".
The ex-aide also alleges in the book that there’s a tanning bed in the White House so the president can regularly top up his tan.
She claims he fought with now-departed chief usher Angella Reid over its installation after demanding one be put in after taking office.
Other aides say they have not seen a tanning bed in the White House.
Manigault Newman made additional claims about her time on The Apprentice, alleging Trump used the N-word off-camera while filming the show.
The incident is said to have been caught on tape – although she admits she has never heard it herself.
She writes: “Three sources … all told me that President Trump said [the N-word] multiple times throughout taping during off-camera outtakes.”
Trump responded to the claims by branding her a “lowlife”.
Manigault Newman, who left her job in the White House at the end of 2017, said Trump tried to buy her silence.
She says she was offered $15,000 (£12,000) a month to serve in a "senior position" on his 2020 re-election campaign – but would have to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
But when she turned down the offer, she allegedly received letters from Trump's lawyers warning her to stay quiet.
The book is set for release Tuesday.
The White House has already slammed it as "riddled with lies and false accusations."
