Corrie McKeague’s mum slams RAF airman’s dad after he claimed son was no longer missing
MISSING Corrie McKeague’s mum has accused her former partner of trying to close the investigation into their son's disappearance - insisting "we're still looking for Corrie".
Nicola Urquhart, 48, today launched a stinging criticism of Martin McKeague, her son's dad.
This came after 49-year-old Mr McKeague wrote his own message on Facebook earlier this week, saying Corrie was "no longer missing".
But today Ms Urquhart said: "We're still looking for Corrie. Corrie is missing.
"The police don't know. They cannot categorically state Corrie is in a particular area but they just can't get him."
In his own message, Mr McKeague claimed he was certain about what happened to the 23-year-old RAF airman.
Corrie is originally from Fife and went missing in 2016 after a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, which was near his base.
His whereabouts has never been confirmed.
Mr McKeague recently wrote: “Corrie is no longer missing.
"What we mean by this is that after looking at all of the facts and evidence we now know what happened to our son.
“We are certain he is somewhere in the Suffolk waste disposal system, but his remains are essentially irretrievable."
Police managed to piece together some of his last movements on September 24, 2016, after CCTV footage showed him eating takeaway food at about 1.20am.
At 3.24am Corrie was last spotted taking a nap in a nearby doorway before he left the view of the camera.
It is believed he climbed into a recycling bin before being crushed to death by a bin lorry and then taken to a landfill site 30 miles away.
But in her Facebook Live video today, Ms Urquhart claimed her former partner Martin was trying to bring the police investigation to a close.
She said: "We know and we feel that it's Martin's intention, he wants to close this investigation down.
"That's not in his power but that is what he's trying to do. He's trying to prevent us from getting our answers and make people just move on."

In the video, she also revealed she had spoken to the police yesterday.
She said: "They may be able to give us answers and we will be in a position to say we can now start moving on, they might not.
"We're going to continue to work with the police as we had before. Everything was going fine until this all kicked off."
Becoming emotional at times, Ms Urquhart said that she and her sons were not ready to start mourning, adding: "We should not be getting forced into that and Martin is trying to do that."
She thanked the members of the Facebook group for their support.
