Drunk reveller nearly died when finger was completely RIPPED OFF after he caught it on fence – but he claims he didn’t even feel it
Brandon Ward, 21, lost his finger in a grisly accident when his ring caught on some metal fencing - but he didn't feel it because he was drunk
A REVELLER ripped his FINGER off after his ring got caught on a fence - but didn't feel it because he was drunk.
Brandon Ward's right ring finger was torn off at the knuckle when he snagged it on metal fencing walking home with friends.
He initially felt no pain but then was horrified to notice the finger missing - and the injury left him only an hour from death said doctors.
His pals thought he was joking until they saw the pool of blood on the floor and watched him faint.
He spent 14 hours in hospital after losing five-and-a-half pints of blood.
Brandon, from Swindon, Wilts, said: "The ring got caught halfway up the fence and as I turned around to leave, it ripped straight through the bone and veins.
"Luckily I didn't feel much pain because I was quite drunk.
"I remember looking down at my hand and seeing the severed finger and all the blood, then asked my friend to call an ambulance.
"He thought I was messing with him until he saw the pool of blood on the floor, then I fainted.”
Medical experts told the unfortunate 21-year-old that they could not reattach his finger.
Brandon now wants to warn people about the dangers of wearing rings after the gruesome accident on July 22.
He has had to take a break from delivering newspapers six days a week before work following the grisly injury.
He said: “I don't want to risk the newspaper ink getting into my bandage and infecting the wound.”
The loss of the digit has made it hard to do everyday tasks, which has been “hard but bearable.”

He added: "What happened has petrified me - I'm still shocked by it all and it still hasn't fully hit me yet.
"It'll be difficult to get used to, especially with people always staring at the stump.
"I've taken all my rings off now and my friends have done the same, they were all leaning on the same fence with me, I was just unlucky."
