Prince Charles to give evidence at child sex inquiry into disgraced ex-bishop Peter Ball

A written statement from Charles will be read on July 27 during the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse investigation into the Anglican Church as it focuses on Peter Ball

PRINCE Charles will give written evidence to the child sexual abuse inquiry as it examines how allegations against a disgraced bishop were handled.

Peter Ball, 86, was jailed for 32 months in 2015 for abusing 18 young men across 30 years.

He ordered them to strip to pray and suggested they submit to beatings. One victim later took his own life.

The inquiry is looking into how the Church of England dealt with complaints at the Diocese of Chichester, where Ball officiated.

His court case heard that an unnamed Royal had written to him when he was under suspicion in the 1990s.

Last night The Times reported Charles stayed friends with Ball because he did not realise that a 1993 caution for gross indecency — which the cleric called “an indiscretion” — meant he had admitted he was guilty.
