FBI agents claim flame-haired Maria Butina offered a man 'sex in exchange for a position within a special interest organisation'

A Russian ‘spy’ was praised by her Kremlin handlers for upstaging glam secret agent Anna Chapman - after offering sex for access to US politicians.

Maria Butina, 29, was applauded for overshadowing her fellow redhead after she infiltrated a series of American conservative groups, US prosecutors claimed.

FBI agents claim flame-haired Butina entered a relationship with a 56-year-old Republican strategist in a bid to get access to top politicians - and offered another man "sex in exchange for a position within a special interest organisation”.

A 29-page FBI document claims she used stories of hunting wolves in Siberia to infiltrate pro-gun organisations in America.

She became a lifetime member of the NRA in 2012, and was even photographed with its chief lobbyist, Wayne LaPierre.

The document claims Russian official Alexander Torshin wrote to her: "Good morning! How are you faring there in the rays of the new fame? Are your admirers asking for your autographs yet?

"You have upstaged Anna Chapman. She poses with toy pistols, while you are being published with real ones.”

The FBI also claim to have found a hand-written note with the words "How to respond to FSB offer of employment” scrawled halfway down.

The FSB is the successor to the feared KGB security service.

Last night a Russian professor claimed Butina framed him for sexual harrasment in 2009.

Dmitry Kolupayev, then an assistant professor, was fired after she told university bosses he caught her cheating and promised to overlook it if she met him at a hotel for sex next day wearing a short skirt, low-cut blouse, and stockings and suspenders.

He blasted: “I do not think she's a spy. She's just a fool."
