Donald Trump mocked by the world over grovelling Vladimir Putin summit as internet responds with dozens of memes

Front pages branded Trump 'treasonous' while memes illustrated the US president as Putin's pet... and his submissive lover

SHAMEFUL, weak and treasonous were just some of the words used to sum up Donald Trump's meeting with Vladimir Putin yesterday - and that's just from his own lawmakers.

In an unprecedented move, the American president openly questioned his own intelligence agencies to side with Russia over claims his spies "disrupted" the US election.

The eyes of the world were fixed on the summit in Helsinki, Finland, to see whether Trump would confront Putin on election meddling and the Novichok poisoning saga.

In the UK, the Guardian quoted former CIA Director John Brennan who branded him "treasonous".

American papers were more scathing: The New York Daily News led with a cartoon of Trump holding hands with a shirtless Putin as he shot an Uncle Sam character in the head.
